I was dismayed and saddened to read in the Cornish Times of October 13 about the continued saga of Marion Howarth's job with Somerfield and their intransigent attitude. I have been a very regular visitor to Looe for many years, having grown up in the town, and have always found Marion to be thoughtful, polite and patient – surely the very epitome of the type of employee any company would wish to have, especially one in a service industry. So I find Somerfield's dogmatic attitude most baffling. I sincerely hope that the petition Anne Allen has organised will have the desired effect and Marion will be allowed to continue working at the Looe store with no enforced changes to her hours of employment.
