A Torpoint couple who met at a dance in Plymouth have celebrated 60 years of marriage with family and friends.
Joan and Brian Jones first met at a Berketex dance and, for a while afterwards, their courtship was conducted by letter; Joan lived in Plymouth and Brian in South Wales.
The couple were married on August 4, 1956, at St James Church in Torpoint, and after four years of wedded life in South Wales, Brian’s job with British Rail was transferred to Plymouth, and the Joneses settled in Torpoint.
Their two sons and a daughter all live in Torpoint, and their five grandchildren and young great grandson are also living close by.
