It was just one of a series of horror accidents on the region's roads in the past week. On Tuesday two people were airlifted to Derriford Hospital, Plymouth, with serious injuries following a three-car collision on the A390, on the outskirts of Liskeard.
Another two people were injured in the accident, involving an Audi A4, a Citroen Xsara and a Honda Civic and were taken to Derriford by road.
Fire crews from Bodmin and Liskeard had to cut two people from the wreckage and the road was closed for more than two hours while the vehicles, all silver in colour, were recovered.
The crash happened about half a mile outside Liskeard on the Callington road From front page at about 1pm. The latest accidents come as friends and family of a popular Saltash DJ who was killed in a crash at Tideford over the Easter weekend paid tribute.
Described as an 'absolute top bloke with a heart of gold', Lloyd Williams was on his way home from working at a club in St Austell when the accident happened in the early hours of Saturday morning.
Tributes have been paid to Lloyd on social networking site Facebook.
His cousin, Kellie McFarland Meiszner, said: 'Lloydie, my baby cousin, we will all miss you so very much, Lewis has lost his best friend and will miss you coming to stay with us, you were the best.'
Lloyd had been working at Puls8 nightclub, St Austell, where he had a regular Friday night slot.
His car left the road after the Trerulefoot roundabout at around 3am as he headed towards Tideford village on the A38.
Firefighters from Saltash and Bodmin attended the scene, but a firefighter from Saltash said 'there was nothing anyone could do to help him'.
The road was closed while investigations were made and police have confirmed the only vehicle involved in the incident was a black Audi A4.
Manager of Puls8 nightclub, Sally Polmounter, said: 'He was a lovely guy, a real gentle giant.
'He will be sadly missed and I want to send our thoughts to his family.'
Lloyd also worked in clubs in Cornwall and Plymouth.
On Monday a 14-year-old boy and a 24-year-old woman from Plymouth died after the car they were travelling in was in a collision with a tractor on the A38, near Ashburton.
