People with dementia, carers and Alzheimer’s Society staff and volunteers added the finishing touches to a Cornish seaside scene made from cupcakes this week to celebrate the UK’s first Cupcake Day in association with woman&home magazine (Cupcake Day is Thursday, June 16).
The individually decorated cupcakes featuring seagulls, crabs, starfish and even the odd shark were assembled at an Alzheimer’s Society Singing for the Brain group to create a scene reminiscent of Cornwall’s seaside.
Everyone is encouraged to bake, sell or buy cupcakes at events up and down the country for Cupcake Day (June 16).
Every cupcake sold will help Alzheimer’s Society find a cure for dementia, fund services and campaign for the rights of people with dementia.
You can sign up at cupcakeday.org.uk for a free Cupcake Kit and discover how to bring your own unique style to the table. Alzheimer’s Society is encouraging all bakers to share pictures of creations using #CupcakeDay on Twitter and Instagram.
