Liskeard v Stoke Climsland
On a day more fitting to cricket Stoke won the toss and elected to bat, they lost an early wicket to a fine catch by Jamie Hine. Liskeard's bowlers after that can only be described as varied, except an excellent spell from Pat Gilliat in his allotted eight overs only going for 13 runs. An exceptional knock from skipper Jim Maunder who carried his bat for a credible 100 n.o. was the only innings of any note from the visitors. They ended on 159-5.
Liskeard came out after tea needing four an over which didn't seem too daunting until a couple of quick wickets changed things slightly. Simon White joined Steve Marchant in a determined mood and quickly reached 17 until a customary loose shot saw him caught. This brought the hero of the day Chris Young to the crease, and he began hitting the ball to all corners of the ground with virtual ease.A more sedate innings from Steve Marchant of 43 and a couple of quick wickets gave Stoke hope but the excellent display by Young saw Liskeard home with 11 balls to spare. The Liskeard skipper hopes this is the first of many great displays by the unflappable Chris Young.
