Liskeard Seconds v Callington IV

After losing the toss and being put in to bat Callington got off to a whirlwind start penalising the pace, width and height of Marchant and Pooks opening spell.

With the score on 50 for 1 after only nine overs an enormous total looked ominous. Gilliats wily spin slowed things down until the halfway mark but the turning point came when Taylor claimed the scalp of Borlase(45) who fell to an outstanding, one handed, diving catch from Marchant plucked straight out of the World Cup.

Liskeards youngsters capitalised with Andrew and Terry taking good chances and Hooper bowling the last two batsmen in his first over. Callington left pondering on what might have been after losing 5 wickets for only 6 runs to finish on 113 all out.

Peters launched into Callington's opening attack before playing on early in the innings. Taylor steadied the crew and Gilliat hit a fine 30 before jumping ship in the last over leaving Captain Marchant to steer into port with an unbeaten 36.
