Cricket- County Division Four
Liskeard v St Erme
On a damp Lux Park wicket Liskeard won the toss and elected to bat first, which seemed the wrong decision at 40 for three, but some sensible batting by Rowe and White turned it around, putting on 60 for the fourth wicket until Rowe was out for a superb 60. Simon White batted sensibly for a fine 29. Clue Gilliat and Young all made quick contributions to the score, taking it to a respectable 159 all out. St Erme's bowlers all bowled quite tight. Wilkinson 13 overs 4 for 33, Pearson 15 overs 2 for 35, Wilcox 10 overs 2 for 47 and Hathway 2 over 2 for 2.
Liskeard got off to a great start, Rowe having D Gay lbw in his first over, some accurate bowling by Vince and Rowe kept the pressure on the top order batsmen. After their opening spell Rowe and Vince were replaced by Young and Gilliat who kept up the pressure with Gilliat taking his normal three wickets. A great run out by Kevin Clue highlighted the back up the fielders gave their bowlers with special mention to Simon White who kept wicket excellently.
This was a great team effort having St Erme all out for 111 being the first side to beat them in the league this season. All the bowlers deserve mention but the pick was Rowe who capped off a great day with 12.3 overs 6-25 and Gilliat 8 overs 3-17.
