More than three years after Looe grandmother Susan Norman tragically died during a landslip, an inquest by jury into the circumstances surrounding her death has been set to begin on Monday, November 7, at Truro Magistrates Court.

There will be a preinquest review, also at Truro, on Friday, September 9.

Mrs Norman 68, a popular figure in the town, lost her life when her home at Veronica Flats, in Sandplace Road, was engulfed by mud, leading to its partial collapse, during a storm on March 22, 2013.

There have since been extensive investigations surrounding the tragedy involving the Health and Safety Executive, the police, Cornwall Council and others.

The building has since been demolished.

The inquest had been set to begin in May this year, but in March the Cornwall coroner, Dr Emma Carlyon, withdrew from the case, setting it back further.

Dr Carlyon said at the time that there could be the potential perception of conflict because she is employed by Cornwall Council who could be involved in the case.
