Jubilee visit

DETAILS of the Queen's extensive Golden Jubilee programme which is set to take her to every part of the UK, were announced in Parliament on Tuesday.

The South West of England is to be the starting point of the nationwide tour when on May 1, accompanied by the Duke of Edinburgh, the Queen will visit the National Maritime Museum in Falmouth before going on to Trelissick, Truro and Exeter.

National celebrations are being held over the central weekend - June 1 to June 4, with the May 27 Bank Holiday being moved to Tuesday, June 4. Monday, June 3 will be an extra Bank Holiday to mark the Golden Jubilee.

Budget airline

flights to Stansted

THE BUDGET airline, Ryanair announced yesterday morning that it is to start daily flights from Newquay to London Stansted. The flights are expected to start in April with a journey time of approximately one hour.

The news follows a recent announcement that Ryanair have ordered over 100 new Boeing 737-800 aircraft and is expecting to carry more than 10 million passengers to European destinations in this coming year.

Although Brymon Airways, a subsidiary of British Airways operate regular services from Plymouth to London Gatwick, the arrival of Ryanair in the South West is expected to have a huge impact on tourism and offer many advantages for business commuters.

Internet boost for

air ambulance

CORNWALL'S life-saving air ambulance service is set to receive a big boost following the launch of its first professionally commissioned web site.

The site has been designed and constructed by Truro-based id Media Ltd and has quickly produced a notable increase in interest, not just in the UK, but worldwide. It is designed both as a vital information source and as a direct fund-raiser, with the facility to make donations on-line and order air ambulance merchandise.

The new facility is undoubtedly going to achieve a significantly increased audience, helping to promote and maintain the fund raising effort needed by Cornwall's air ambulance.
