Snowfall on

the Islands

THE Isles of Scilly had a rare experience this week when snow fell on the islands on Wednesday, for only the fourth time since the War.

Steve Watt, Tourism Officer for the Isles of Scilly said: 'There was enough snow falling to make the islands look quite strange, everything was covered with a dusting of snow and the children were very excited as they have never seen snow on the islands before.'

Royal visit

THE Duke of Edinburgh is to spend a day at HMS Raleigh, Torpoint, today, Friday, when he will officially open the Royal Naval Submarine School in the morning and then inspect the guard and take the salute at the Passing Out Parade.
