Wreaths laid at

the church altar

HEAVY rain led to the march past following the Remembrance Day service at Saltash being cancelled, together with the laying of wreaths on the war memorial.

Instead the wreaths were placed on and around the altar at St Nicholas and St Faith church where the service was held.

Earlier, before the rain fell, the mayor Bryan Preston, accompanied by the mayoress his daughter Jennifer, led the parade from Victoria Gardens, through the town to the church. They were accompanied by the town maces and members of the town council, and led by the town band and Saltash Army cadet force.

National win for golfers

A team from Carlyon Bay have won the grand final of the Mail on Sunday National Golf Club Classic 2000. Three thousand teams and 18,000 players took part. In the final Carlyon Bay met a team from Wentworth

Moon over the Tamar

SECURITY cameras on the Tamar Bridge caught more than they bargained for on Sunday afternoon, as three youths dropped their trousers and 'mooned' at shocked motorists. The trio, who had also been creating a dangerous nuisance by running in and out of the traffic, causing it to stop and swerve, are now being hunted by Saltash police.
