Saltash returned to their early season form with a confident display at Stickers Burngallow Road ground. Taking the game to their opponents Ashes Jason Marks and Greg Baldry narrowly missed the target.
Against the run of play in the 35th minute Stickers Jeff Johnson picked up a loose ball on the edge of the area. Ashes keeper Chris Stacey got his hands to Johnsons shot but the ball entered the net off an upright.
Sticker's lead was shortlived as Saltash surged upfield. From a flighted corner of the right by Lee Wakeham Ashes new signing Ian Saunders outjumped the home sides defence to powerfully head in an equaliser. The second half was one way traffic with Chris Stacey having a quiet afternoon in goal. The goal everyone expected eventually materialised in the 68th minute. Once again it was a Wakeham-Saunders dead ball situation that did the trick. From a free kick 25 yards out Wakeham tapped the ball to Saunders who unleashed a curling shot around the wall and into the roof of the net.
With Ashes in full flow Jason Marks carved out an opportunity for Lee Grogan to chip the ball over the advancing keeper for Saltash's third goal.
