Commandos started a massive charity challenge along the coast of South East Cornwall.

The Royal Marines 1664 Global Challenge involves all members of the corps completing 100 Challenges in 100 Days.

And the ‘run’ element started in Plymouth on Tuesday (April 25), where members of 1 Assault Group crossed the Tamar from the Barbican on an offshore raiding craft before running from Torpoint to Looe.

It was the first of 100 16.64 mile runs Marines aim to complete, making 1,664 miles in total with all major towns and cities around the UK included in the route.

The 1664 theme comes from the year of the foundation of the Royal Marines.

The event is being staged to raise £1million for Royal Marine charities.
