A Saltash teenager is turning heads with her new look after becoming a ’life-shaver’ for CLIC Sargent, the cancer charity for young people and their families, and for The Mustard Tree Centre at Derriford Hospital, who are supporting her Grandad.
Codie Stafford braved the scissors as part of CLIC Sargent’s Big Buzz Campaign, which encourages people to shave their heads to support children and young people with cancer, many of whom lose their hair during treatment.
Codie said: ’I did it because my grandad has four different types of cancer, all diagnosed in a year. I wanted to raise money, awareness and show support for my grandad.
’My grandad and I have always been close, but we have grown apart and we don’t really speak any more. So I wanted to do something dramatic and big to show him I support him. He has been so brave and has not asked for anything. All of us as his family are praying for good outcomes.’
