Cornish Charity Citizens Advice Cornwall are inviting people to walk (or run) 5K in May to raise funds for the charity while burning off those extra calories.

Whether it’s walking the dog, walking to work or school, or going for a run this May, help raise money so Citizens Advice Cornwall can continue to provide free advice to those who need it.

However you chose to take part, the money you raise will help the charity continue providing vital services including advice on debt, benefits, housing and employment.

Community Fundraising Manager, Tamsin Chapman-Gunner, said: “You can take part however you like, knowing the money you raise will be used to provide free advice to anyone who needs it.”

More than 9,000 people sought the organisation’s help last year and this number is rapidly growing as rising energy and fuel prices, increasing rents and National Insurance contributions are affecting more people.

Citizens Advice Cornwall provides free, confidential and independent advice to everyone in the community and covers a wide range of issues including debt, benefits, employment, discrimination, housing and relationship breakdowns.

The charity relies on over a hundred volunteers across the county who offer a mix of face-to-face and phone advice, supported by a team of professional staff.

Last year, Citizens Advice Cornwall helped people gain a total of £5.3 million in income and write-off £1.8 million in debt.

For every pound invested in the charity, it generated £2.35 in savings to public services, amounting to £3.3 million – a major boost to the local economy.
