MORE than £1,300 worth of books have been packed in with Foodbank parcels thanks to an appeal which gained momentum.
Kelly Nokes, who’s an Usborne Book representative in Liskeard, asked people to pledge donations during February and raised £670.
She boosted this with her commission of £162 and Liskeard Town Council agreed to donate £500 to the campaign.
Now the books, which are aimed at children of all ages, will go out across the area served by the Liskeard and Looe Foodbank in South East Cornwall. “It has given me enormous pleasure in arranging these wonderful books to go to children in the local community, and I am sure they will be grateful to get hold of them,” said Kelly.
“I would like to say a big heartfelt thanks to all the Town Councillors, the mayor, and the town clerk, as well as local businesses and individuals who have donated which include Dom Turner of Studio4framing, Tina of Newpark motors, Binki, Annette and Faith.”
