Children from Liskeard enjoyed testing out the new equipment at the opening of Thorn Park play area this week. As well as a slide and a seesaw, there's a pirate ship, a stand-up roundabout and a tyre swing. There was entertainment provided for free by face-painter Carl Jakes and local band Anything Goes, as well as balloons and party bags which were handed out to the children. Mayor Tony Powell, who cut the ribbon to officially open the park, said: 'Parents, neighbours and children were fulsome in their praise of both the equipment and its setting within the park. Many parents thanked us for returning their park to them as a family facility. Cllr Chris Ferguson has done a fantastic job in drawing this project together.'
