Looe Golf Club captain John Rowe, the former County and South Western Counties President, held his Captain's Day in fine weather last Saturday.

A field of about 100 players raised approximately £600 for the National Deaf Children's Society.

David Bennett won the men's event with 41 points, with John Nicholls in second place with 40, beating Graham Rich into third on countback.

The Ladies competition was won by Sandra Neale with 43 points, with Lady Captain Norma Knight in second place on 42, leading on the back nine from Sue King.

Sheilah Tillbrook was nearest the pin on the first hole and JJ Carr on the ninth hole.
