The Mayor of Looe, Armand Toms, is appealing for volunteer marshals to help at the two firework displays to be held in the town on New Year’s Eve.

At 6pm there will be a display for families and young children, and the traditional fireworks off the end of the Banjo Pier follow at midnight to herald in the New Year.

Cllr Toms said: ‘Each year a lot of effort goes into raising the funds for the fireworks which has become a tradition in the town.

‘This year events held by Colin and Beryl Tregear and Annette Keen, and match funding by Barclays Bank has helped significantly, along with the support of donations large and small from local businesses, residents and visitors.

’However, I must thank our new main sponsor Ocean and Country Estate Agents, who have stepped forward with a very kind donation.’

Cllr Toms added: ‘I thank everyone for their help and support in keeping this event alive and look forward to seeing one and all to celebrate the New Year in Looe.’ Anyone who thinks they can volunteer help should contact Cllr Toms on 01503 264823.
