A young girl has been appointed Cornwall's Cadet of the Year for St John Ambulance, for 2008. Helen Radcliff (16), from Stoke Climsland, near Callington, is a member of the Callington Division of St John Ambulance, and was awarded the position after competing in a competition that tests several different areas including communication, leadership and team skills. Cadets from all over Cornwall also had to deliver personal presentations to the four judges at the event, which took place at Tregedna Lodge, Meanporth near Falmouth, earlier this month. Helen will now go forward and represent Cornwall at the national heats, being held in January.
