DIVISION ONE WEST
Millbrook 4 Penryn Ath 2
MILLBROOK manager Dane Bunney had every right to be delighted after this victory at Mill Park ended a run of six consecutive defeats.
'This was probably our best performance of the season,' said beaming Bunney.
'I have said for weeks that this kind of performance and result was coming and it all came together in one day.
'We totally outplayed Penryn from the first minute to the last and don't forget they are a good side which makes the result even more pleasing.'
Bunney was also pleased with his latest acquisition as Ben Edmundson bagged a brace on his debut, his first coming in the 15th minute and his second ten minutes from time.
It was a low right-wing cross from Mike Thackeray that found Edmundson placing a first time shot past the visiting goalkeeper from six yards to give Millbook the lead.
But Penryn levelled proceedings on the stroke of half-time when Peter Davey got the final touch amidst a goalmouth scramble.
The second half belonged to Millbrook, though, and they regained the lead 13 minutes after the restart, Will Cole unleashing an unstoppable drive past the visiting 'keeper from 30 yards after the Tamarsiders were awarded a free-kick for a foul on Leighton Bartlett.
A two-goal advantage was attained 15 minutes from time when a long ball over the top from Kevin Digby found James Hoblin racing clear to fire home from edge of the box.
Then five minutes later, Edmundson broke clear of the visiting defence, and beating the offside trap, to slot a low drive past the advancing keeper from 18 yards to complete his double and ensure victory.
Dominic Pullen pulled a goal back for Penryn in stoppage time - firing past Dan Pen-Collins after a long ball forward caught the home defence off-guard.
