The efforts of a brother and sister who attend Looe Community School and who also belong to the town's army cadet force have been recognised with awards. The Mayor of Looe, Ron Overd, recently presented the Mayor's Shield to Army Cadet Lance Corporal Jamie Curtis at a ceremony in the Cadet Hut at Sunrising. Also present was the President of the Looe Royal British Legion who presented the RBL Shield for the Most Achieved Cadet 2006 to Army Cadet Jess Curtis. Mr Overd said he was delighted to present the shield to Jamie and he recommended youngsters to join the cadets, giving them a huge opportunity for personal development and character building. He wished all present the best for the future and praised the parents attending for their support for the cadets. The unit, which is commanded by Sgt Major Steve Toms assisted by Sgts John Geach and Sasha Ayhan, meets every Wednesday and Thursday evening at 1900 hours in the Cadet Hut.
