Liskeard has said ’bring out your barrows!’ as the town goes for a world record tomorrow.

The Lions club aims to have 600 wheelbarrows at the start of the Carnival Parade in order to beat the current world record for the most wheelbarrows pushed at one time.

Publican Alex McKay has got behind the challenge. He says that sports clubs, schools and groups in the Liskeard area are all geared up to take part – and that local construction and groundworks companies have also pledged their support.

’Fred Champion and Steve Hoskin have sent out letters in people’s pay packets encouraging them to take part,’ he said.

’The Harrow Barrows will be leading the parade and the Cornwall Pride Bus say they are bringing rainbow wheelbarrows.

’It’s the chance for Liskeard to do something a little bit different – if everyone turns up we should smash it!’
