REMOVING the many tiny pieces of plastic washed up onto Tregantle Beach in Whitsand Bay in recent weeks will be the focus of a clean-up set to take place today (Sunday).
The Rame Peninsula Beach Care (RPBC) group is organising the event.
‘Tregantle Beach, along with many others in our area and in Cornwall, has been covered in microplastics over the past few weeks,’ said Claire Wallerstein, of RPBC.
‘These are really hard to remove – but deadly for wildlife.
‘The MoD contractors focus on removing the large pieces of plastic waste, so let’s see what we can do about picking up as much as possible of this tiny stuff.’
Participants are asked to take a dustpan and brush with them, if possible, and meet at the gate from the road down to the beach at 2pm.
