THE Ashtorre Centre at Waterside, Saltash, is celebrating the 25th anniversary of its opening on St Piran’s Day (March 5), 1991, by well-known Cornish folk singer Brenda Wootton.
This will consist of a singalong from 11am to midday, with Maureen and Jim on the accordion and guitar, and the music will resume from 2pm to 3pm. An anniversary cake will then be cut at 3.30pm. History A history of the centre is now on show, including photographs and a video, until Thursday, March 31.
Other events include:
Thursday, March 3 at 7.30pm – the singing group The Larrick Lads will give their final concert after 22 years of performing.
Friday, March 4 – a quiz evening.
Sunday, March 6 – shows by a children’s entertainer at 11am and 2pm.
Saturday, March 12 – a talk by Bruce Hunt, of Saltash Heritage, on the changing face of the town, and a nostalgic evening with Chris Batters featuring films.
The Ashtorre Centre is open every day of the week for people to enjoy light refreshments and enjoy the views of the river, either from indoors or outside on the balcony.
