CORNWALL ONE Saltash 29 Illogan Park 3 Saltash kept up the pressure on league leaders St Austell with a decisive victory. Full back Nigel Owen kicked an early penalty before wing Jason Carney wrong-footed two defenders to cross the line and give the Ashes an 8-0 half-time lead. Saltash stepped up a gear in the second half. After Mark Moyle had kicked a penalty to put Illogan Park on the scoreboard, the Ashes pack linked with the backs and fly half Simon Watson sent flanker Pete Congo over for a try that Owen converted. Carney scored the try of the game, charging over the line from 55 yards out. Again Owen converted. Dominic Hill rounded off the scoring, fending off two defenders to touch down before Owen kicked his third conversion. With eight wins from 10 Cornwall One games, Saltash are just two points behind table-toppers St Austell.
