LISKEARD is getting ready for a mini invasion of the popular ‘Minions’ characters on Thursday (August 6), when the town’s Traders’ Association puts on a Family Fun Day, which will be a great treat for the school summer holidays.
Animation film The Minions’ well-loved characters Stuart, Kevin and Bob, in life size, will be meeting and greeting their fans around the streets of Liskeard between 11am and 1pm, and they will also be joined by superhero Captain America.
This will be an excellent opportunity to take some fun photographs for the family albums.
Radio station Pirate FM will be broadcasting live from The Parade from 9am-6pm and there will be themed Minions activities taking place in the Pannier Market all day, where there will be a chance to have a go with a remote-controlled Minion, which just might answer you back!
There will be colouring for the children and Minions jigsaws to put together, as well as a craft table organised by Mandy Smith, of Meadow Sweet, whose flowers will be yellow and blue for the day in honour of the visiting Minions.
Stallholders in the market have also been knitting Minions and there will be Minions bunting for decoration.
‘We’ve gone Minions mad and we hope everyone has a great time,’ said Maureen Smith, of the Traders’ Association. ‘Our event at Easter was much enjoyed by everyone in the town and this is our fun way of saying thank you to everyone who supports us by shopping in Liskeard.’
Added to the ‘Minions Mayhem’ will be a quiz with cash prizes for ages 11-18 which has been organised by Anne Hatcher, of Crafty Sisters, with entry forms available in the Pannier Market. There will also be stalls, games, a bouncy castle, live music and glitter tatoos.
At 2pm families are invited to visit Jelly Pebbles in Windsor Place to meet local children’s author Wendy Chamberlain, the creator of the pre-school books ‘Bobo Says Hello.’
