RUNNING out of puff was out of the question for members of Liskeard Silver Band, who played no fewer than 120 consecutive pieces of music in the town centre.
The non-stop music marathon has raised more than £200 so far to buy new instruments.
Those taking up the challenge included the band’s youngest player, 12-year-old Abigail Jones, and the musicians were supported by the St Martin’s Church Choir who sang along to the hymns.
A busy summer season awaits the band, which will be playing during carnival week at the furry dance on Wednesday June 20, and for the carnival parade on Saturday, June 23.
The band practises on a Wednesday evening at the Salvation Army Hall and anyone interested in joining is welcome to go along, said spokesperson Rosemary Shufflebotham.
Junior players meet at 6.30pm and the adult band plays at 7.30pm.
‘We are especially looking to recruit experienced players for the main band, particularly solo cornet and percussion,’ said Rosemary.
