Users of the Echo Centre in Liskeard will be able to enjoy trips out on the water thanks to one man’s marathon effort.

Allun Clarke, whose niece Sarah attends the centre, raised more than £1,100 when he competed in the Saltash Half Marathon in May.

It was the first such event for Allun, who lives in Saltash, and he completed it in a very respectable time of 1 hour 45.

Allun says that Sarah has enjoyed many years of activities with the Echo Centre and has made lots of friends with the support of the centre. Members recently enjoyed a canal boat trip on a wheelchair-accessible boat.

‘Thanks to Allun, Echo Cornwall will be able to help subsidise the cost of a future trip for everyone,’ said an Echo spokesperson. ‘We would like to thank Allun for his hard work and all the people who kindly sponsored him.’
