Liskeard’s Community Fair will be bustling tomorrow with up to 39 stalls from local organisations and charity groups.
The stalls will vary from sports and art, to youth groups and choirs, ex-armed forces, and many more.
Many visitors are expected to attend the popular event at the Public Hall, which runs from 10am-12.30pm.
Organised by Liskeard Town Council, the annual event, which first began many years ago as the ‘Mayor’s Mini Market’, is a chance for the organisations involved to let people know all about their activities, recruit new members, and do some fund-raising.
A council spokesperson said: ‘The fair is the town council’s way of giving all the groups in our community a chance, free of charge, to promote what they do under one roof, and is also our way of thanking them for all they do on a voluntary basis adding to the life of the town.
’This year’s uptake for stalls has been even bigger than the previous year.’
Among the stallholders will be the town council themselves along with volunteers promoting the Liskeard and District Museum.
Also, together with the town forum, they will be gathering support for the new Liskeard In Bloom project.
Also taking part at the event are: Liskeard and District Sports Association and Liskeard Bowling Club, Liskerrett Male Voice Choir, LIDFAS (Liskeard Decorative and Fine Arts Society), Liskeard Artworks Group, 1st Liskeard Scout Group, Eden Youth Club, Young People Cornwall, Friends of Morley Tamblyn Lodge, Liskeard Lions, British Heart Foundation (BHF), Marie Curie, Save The Children, Children’s Hospice South West, Royal British Legion and the Royal Naval Association.
