PEOPLE of any age in the local community are being asked to take part in ‘The Great Liskeard Advent Calendar Challenge’.

The idea will be part of Liskeard’s Proper Cornish Christmas campaign and is supported by the Traders’ Association and the Chamber of Commerce. Twenty-four shops around the town centre have agreed to display a new page of an advent calendar each day throughout December, the first one of which will be unveiled by the Mayor Phil Seeva.

John Hesketh, who is organising the challenge with Mayoress Jo Hoskin and Cllr Sue Pike, said the challenge is open to everyone who lives, works or shops in Liskeard and picture entries, which should be on A3 size paper, should be taken to the Tourist Information Centre in Pike Street any time before Monday, November 23. All entrants must include their contact details and write in not more than 30 words what inspired their picture.
