Transport minister Chris Grayling listened to local leaders who made the case for further funding for the accident-plagued A38 when he visited Cornwall today.

Details of the meeting are not available, but it is understood safety concerns were raised with the minister.

The Secretary of State was given an update on Cornwall Council’s use of devolved powers to try to improve transport links within the county on road, rail and in the air.

He visited Cornwall Airport Newquay, the fastest growing UK airport outside of London.

The Secretary of State was met by representatives from Cornwall Council, GWR, First Kernow, Network Rail, Highways England, Cornwall Airport Newquay, Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Local Enterprise Partnership and Cornwall Chamber of Commerce, as well as local MPs.
