At long last there has been a break in the wet weather that we have been accepting as the norm. This has allowed the hard-working team of volunteers of Looe in Bloom to get out and finish the winter planting. What a wonderful sight it was to see all those wonderful ladies on their hands and knees planting the flowerbeds at Hannafore.
Despite the rather wet summer, I think people will agree that the flower displays in and around Looe have been fantastic. This is all thanks to our wonderful team of volunteers and also the following sponsors and supporters to whom we are extremely grateful.
Thanks go to: Looe Town Council, West Looe Town Trust, Ken Rowe of Rowes Honda, Looe and District Horticultural Society, Tencreek Holiday Park, Paul and Fred at Millpool Garage, Simon Fisher, the Rotary Club of Looe Valley, the Harbour Commissioners and Ray Shepherd our waterer. Thanks also go to Mr and Mrs Gill of Plaidy who kindly donated a boat, which was planted up on the Polperro Road. Special thanks go to Tony Brown and his staff at Brown's Nurseries for all their hard work and continuous support. Thanks also go to the tradespeople of Looe for their contributions and support. Final thanks must go to the road sweepers of Looe who have done a fantastic job in keeping the town clean, which I feel, helps to enhance the displays.
A new project has been started at the Mariners Garden next to the health centre, which in the spring when planting is completed will give a much more pleasant place for people to sit and rest by the river.
On behalf of Looe in Bloom may I wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy Blooming New Year and hope that we can continue with your support in 2010.
