A motorcycle pillion passenger has died and the rider is in hospital in a critical condition after a horrific eight-vehicle crash in the Glynn Valley.

The collision happened yesterday evening at around 5.45pm on the eastbound carriageway of the A38 approaching Trago Mills.  

The 62-year-old male rider of a Honda motorcycle and the 64-year-old female pillion passenger suffered very serious injuries.

Both were taken by ambulance to Derriford Hospital but the woman died shortly after arriving. The male rider is described as being in a critical condition.

The drivers and occupants of the other vehicles involved suffered minor injuries.

A 19-year-old female driver of one of the vehicles involved was interviewed about the collision at Charles Cross Police Station.  

Local officers as well as officers from the Roads Policing Team, and the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, were at the scene.
