A woman in her 60s, understood to be from Liskeard, is this morning in Derriford Hospital in a critical condition after yesterday’s serious collision on the A38.

She was seriously injured following a two-car collision at Landrake.

At about 2.15pm, a green Renault estate was involved in a head-on collision with a blue Audi which was driving in the opposite direction.

The woman, the driver of the Renault, was taken to Derriford Hospital by the Air Ambulance.

The driver of the Audi was not injured.

The road was closed for five hours to allow officers to carry out their investigation into the collision causing widespread traffic chaos and gridlock on diversion routes.

This morning, a police spokesman said: ‘Police would like to take this opportunity to thank road users for their patience whilst this busy road was closed to enable important investigation work to be carried out.’

Potential witnesses are urged to contact Devon and Cornwall Police via [email protected] or by calling 101 quoting Log 363 of January 16.
