Police are appealing for witnesses after a ’substantial’ amount of cash and jewellery was taken from a Saltash home on Sunday (October 9).

Offenders forced the back door to get inside the unoccupied home in Castlemead Drive between 4pm and 10pm.

They carried out an untidy search of the property before stealing a safe containing what detectives describe as ’a substantial amount of cash and valuable jewellery’.

Investigators believe the offenders would have needed a vehicle to take the safe.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the burglary and would like to hear from anyone who saw any suspicious individuals or vehicles in the area at the time of the offence.

Anyone who can assist with the investigation is asked to contact police via [email protected] or by telephone on 101, quoting crime reference CR/17180/16.

Alternatively, information can be passed anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555111 or via the charity’s website at www.crimestoppers-org.uk
