The fire in a building at the Connon Bridge waste and recycling site near East Taphouse is ‘mostly extinguished’, according to reports from the scene, although smoke continues to come from inside.

Fire crews from Liskeard, Looe, Bodmin, Newquay, Truro and St Dennis are all still at the scene.

Motorists have been advised to drive slowly and with caution in the area.

The alarm was raised shortly before 7am today, and householders in the area have been advised to keep windows and doors shut.

Children at Braddock Primary school were this morning sent home as a precaution.

It is understood water supplies had been affected because of the demands of crews fighting the fire.
