Police have this morning released more details about Saturday’s serious accident which closed the A38 in South East Cornwall many hours.

Three people remain in hospital having treatment for what officers describe as ‘serious’ injuries.

The three vehicles involved in the crash near Landrake were a Volkswagen Golf, a Volkswagen Passat and a Citroen C4 Picasso.

All three occupants of the Golf were taken to Derriford Hospital, one with minor injuries.

The male driver and a female passenger have sustained serious injuries and they remain in hospital.

The Passat contained two adults and two children. The adults were taken to Derriford Hospital, where the male driver remains in a serious condition; the other has since been released following treatment.

The two children were checked over by paramedics at the scene and did not need hospital treatment.

The Citroen contained two adults and three children, all of whom were checked at the scene by paramedics.

One adult was treated at Derriford Hospital for minor injuries and the other four people were checked over by paramedics at the scene before being released without needing hospital treatment.

Police are appealing for anyone who has any dashcam footage, or who saw a blue VW Golf driving between Dobwalls and Landrake during the afternoon, to contact them
