A SAFETY event for sea swimmers that had been set to be held at Looe’s RNLI Lifeboat station tomorrow evening (Wednesday 21 July) has been postponed.

The event had been organised following an incident last week in which two swimmers were assisted after finding themselves in difficulty between Talland Bay and Polperro.A spokesperson for Looe RNLI said: "Whilst it is great that a large number of swimmers have shown interest in the safety event we have unfortunately taken the decision to put this event on hold because of the numbers and the risk of getting 'pinged' and told to self-isolate, "We need to take precautions to ensure our volunteer crews can launch on service if paged "This is not what we wanted to do, but we hope you all realise that it's for the best reasons."
