Police today appealed for witnesses following road rage and an assault on the Tamar Bridge.

The incident took place at around 2.08pm on Tuesday, April 26, when a white Peugeot van followed a black VW Golf along the A38 and on to the westbound carriageway of the Tamar Bridge.

The driver of the Peugeot van swerved in front the VW Golf before stopping rapidly.  The driver got out of his vehicle and assaulted the driver of the Golf, a man in his 30s.

During the assault, traffic backed up on the bridge and police are hoping that a number of commuters may have witnessed the incident and can help identify the van driver.

The driver is described as a white man, 5ft9ins tall, with short/cropped fair hair and a reddish complexion. He was overweight, wearing glasses and a high visibility jacket.
