Police have confirmed they are investigating an incident at Liskeard’s new town centre Wetherspoons pub the King Doniert.

They say officers are investigating reports of an assault.

The incident happened at around 8pm when a man was being ejected from the premises.

Police said the man used a glass to hit a member of door staff around the head, causing lacerations.

‘The venue was extremely busy with families and young children who were eating and drinking following the town carnival,’ said a police statement.

Officers are appealing for anyone with information to come forward and contact Liskeard CID on 01579 325910 quoting CR/055589/18.

A 21-year-old man from Liskeard was arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm and was released under investigation.
