Rescuers freed a motorist trapped in the wreckage of a crashed car this morning.

The injured person was cared for by waiting ambulance crews, though the extent of injuries is not known.

Firefighters from Liskeard, the rescue tender from Bodmin and a full-time officer were sent to the scene of the single-vehicle incident on the A38 near the Horningtops junction shortly after 8.30am.

Crews used crash rescue equipment to release the casualty.

Police were also at the scene and one carriageway of the A38 was closed for a period.
