AFTER a widespread search it has been reported that a dog which fled the scene of a fatal accident near Torpoint has been found.

The beige cockapoo named Barney fled after his 72-year-old owner, Jennifer Lowen, died in a collision near Antony House.

Following a special plea by Torpoint police officers and an online appeal using social media and a special hashtag, three-year-old Barney was found this afternoon (Wednesday) on a farm near Wilcove.

At 4.28pm Saltash PCSO Kirsty Down posted the message: ’GOOD NEWS - SPREAD THE WORD. He’s been found! Just awaiting further updates from Torpoint Police.’
