LOOE RNLI went to the aid of four people whose boat had broken down near Looe island on Easter Sunday.
The crew were called out at 5.45pm to assist those on board a 15’ Dory which had suffered from engine failure.
A Looe RNLI spokesperson said: ‘Within 10 minutes Looe’s volunteer crew located the boat drifting between Looe Island and Portnadler beach.
‘With the increasing wind a tow line was quickly established to prevent the boat drifting further. The boat was safely towed back to her moorings above Looe bridge for repairs.’
With the advent of lighter evenings and better weather, Looe RNLI is encouraging boat users who may be taking their craft out for the first time in several months to carry out checks.
‘We recommend that people undertake a routine check of the hull and engine, always wear serviceable life jackets and have the appropriate licence and training to use a VHF Radio.’
