Liskeard and Looe policing team leader Sergeant Jo Williams gave a report to Liskeard Town Forum on incidents dealt with by neighbourhood officers over recent weeks.

The number of crimes recorded by police for the Liskeard area was 58, she said, compared to 73 crimes during the same period in 2015.

Crimes recorded for Liskeard for the month of August included 15 assaults; one sexual offence; two burglaries (non-dwellings); six vehicle offences; two shoplifting offences; eight other thefts; 13 incidents of criminal damage; four public order offences; and two drugs offences.

‘It is still too early to start comparing this year’s figures with last year,’ said Sgt Williams, ‘but so far in this financial year we have recorded 318 crimes in Liskeard town, an increase of 14 offences on last year, and we have responded to 824 incidents.’
