A man who attempted to rob a shop in Liskeard has been jailed for two years.

Aaron Tyler has been sentenced at Truro Crown Court, following the incident at Addington Stores in early September. Tyler, of Addington North, pleaded guilty to charges of attempted robbery and having a bladed article in a public place.

The 26-year-old was described by local police as a regular customer at the shop.

He had attempted to open a till but had fled when an alarm went off, said police at the time. He was arrested the following day.
