Specialist rescue teams went to the aid of an injured man trapped four storeys high on scaffolding.

Paramedics and firefighters worked together to rescue the man from scafolding surrounding a house at Couchs Mill, Lostwithiel, this afternoon (March 15).

Ten firefighters on an appliance from Lostwithiel and a specialist rope rescue appliance from Bodmin went to help the man, who had been injured on the fourth lift of scaffolding and was unable to get down.

Paramedics assessed the injured man before a rescue could be attempted.

Bodmin’s rescue team and the paramedics prepared the casualty for movement on a dragon stretcher. Ropes and lines were used to create an anchor around the chimney stack; the man was then lowered from the scaffolding to the ground.

He has been taken to hospital, but the extent of his injuries are not known.
