Fire service rescuers hauled a horse to safety after it became trapped in a swimming pool

Teams used specialist water and line rescue equipment to help a five-year-old 14.2hh Connemara horse called Candy, who was stuck in a swimming pool at a home in St Mabyn yesterday afternoon.

The pool measured five by four metres and was one-and-a-half metres deep. Firefighters looped a strop around the back end of Candy and then, using a halter, ’encouraged’ her out of the pool pulling on both the halter and strop. Candy was returned unhurt to her owners.
