FIREFIGHTERS were called once again to a blaze on Bodmin Moor yesterday after attending a series of deliberate fires over the Easter Bank Holiday weekend.

Two fire engines from Bodmin Community Fire Station attended a call to the Dozmary Hill area, where a 10 acre section of gorse and grass was alight.

Crews used beaters as well as a portable pump and hose reel jet to extinguish the flames and damp the fire down.

Meanwhile at Metherell, near Callington, firefighters attended a call to 100 metres of hedge ’set alight’, said Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service.

’The fire was smouldering on the crew’s arrival, one hose reel was used to damp the area down.’
