A man died in yesterday’s serious collision on the A38 in the Glynn Valley.

Emergency services were called to the scene at around 11.15am to reports that a Land Rover and a Volvo flatbed had collided at Newbridge Cross near Bodmin.

The driver of the Land Rover, a man in his 70s, died as a result of the collision and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

His next of kin have been informed and formal identification is yet to take place.

A female passenger of the Land Rover was airlifted to Derriford Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and remains in a stable condition.

A full investigation of the scene was completed with the road closed for some eight hours, and enquiries are continuing.

Police said today they would like to thank motorists for their patience whilst a busy road was closed on a Bank Holiday.
